11 months agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. homered for the 10th time this season as part of a three-hit game during Saturday's 7-3 win at the Kansas City Royals. He took Alec Marsh deep in the first inning to put the Padres on the scoreboard 1-0. His homer traveled 422 feet with an exit velocity of 108.2 mph. Tatis had his third multi-hit game in the last four to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He has boosted his batting average to .261, scoring 30 RBI, 38 runs, and six stolen bases. A hot-hitting Tatis will continue to carry many fantasy teams this season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Back For Friars On Friday
2 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) is back in right field and batting leadoff for the Friars in Friday's series opener at Petco Park against the division-rival Colorado Rockies and right-hander German Marquez. Tatis tweaked his surgically-repaired left shoulder on a swing in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics and was held out of the series finale on Wednesday as a precaution. It's something to watch with the 26-year-old superstar, but the fact that he's back in the lineup a few days later is encouraging. San Diego's lineup isn't nearly as strong with both Jackson Merrill (hamstring) and Jake Cronenworth (ribs) on the injured list, but Tatis remains a must-start in all fantasy formats now that he's back in action. The Dominican superstar has been on fire at the plate (.364, two homers, seven RBI, 10 runs, five steals). He's hitting .154 with a homer and three RBI in 13 career at-bats against Marquez.

Padres Optimistic Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth Will Return Friday
4 days agoThe San Diego Padres are optimistic that both outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) and infielder Jake Cronenworth (ribs) will return on Friday for the series opener against the division-rival Colorado Rockies at Petco Park. "We're optimistic for Friday," manager Mike Shildt said on Wednesday when asked the status of both players. Tatis and Cronenworth were both pulled early in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics with injuries that are considered to be minor. Tatis tweaked his left shoulder on a swing and initially stayed in the game before being pulled, while Cronenworth dealt with some rib cramping related to a hit-by-pitch in Chicago on Sunday. Both players sat out of Wednesday's win against the A's, but they could be back on Friday after an off day Thursday. That would be great news for a 10-win Padres team that just placed star outfielder Jackson Merrill (hamstring) on the injured list on Wednesday. Check back on Friday.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Sitting On Wednesday
4 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) is not in the starting nine when the Padres conclude a three-game set against the Athletics. Tatis was lifted from Tuesday's contest due to discomfort in his left shoulder. This is the same shoulder he underwent surgery on during the 2022 campaign as well. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status leading up to their next contest on Friday evening against the Colorado Rockies. On Wednesday, Oscar Gonzalez will get the starting nod in right field and bat in the five-hole. Gonzalez would likely see most of the opportunities in the right field if Tatis misses an extended period of time. Through the first 12 games of the campaign, Tatis has enjoyed a strong start, holding a .364/.442/.523 slash line with two home runs. Gonzalez is not worth targeting in DFS, facing Osvaldo Bido, who enters this contest with a 2.70 ERA.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Dealing With Shoulder Injury
4 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) left Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Athletics early with left-shoulder discomfort, according to manager Mike Shildt. The skipper also said that Tatis is "checking out medically." "We erred on the side of caution and we'll evaluate. Everything seems to be intact and good shape and strength good, and he's not overly concerned." The 26-year-old superstar appeared to injure his shoulder on a swing in his second at-bat of the game, but he stayed in for a while longer before eventually being pulled. While the injury doesn't seem to be a big concern right now, fantasy managers will remember that Tatis has had issues with his left shoulder in the past, even requiring surgery. At the very least, expect him to be out through Thursday's off day, but he could also miss time going into a weekend home series against the division-rival Colorado Rockies.
