Padres Agree With Drew Pomeranz
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres agreed to a four-year, $34 million deal with left-hander Drew Pomeranz on Wednesday, according to sources. The 31-year-old southpaw had a tidy 2.39 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 45 strikeouts and eight walks in 26 1/3 innings of relief for the Brewers last year after starting the year in San Francisco's starting rotation. Pomeranz was an All-Star for the Padres in 2016 before he was traded to the Red Sox. He could be a candidate for the Friars rotation in 2020, but he'll likely stick in the bullpen to start based on how good he was to finish last season. He could have some fantasy value in leagues that count holds if he's used as a bridge to closer Kirby Yates.
