Opportunity May Present Itself For Casey Mittelstadt
6 years agoWith the news of Ryan O’Reilly’s departure from Buffalo, there may be an opportunity for rookie Casey Mittelstadt to crack the lineup on a full-time basis. Drafted eighth overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Mittelstadt has been turning heads with his quick hands and puck control, most recently at the Sabres’ development camp. Mittelstadt could slot in behind Jack Eichel, as the team’s second line center. In six NHL games last season, Mittelstadt totalled five points, including four assists. Should he make the team, the Eden Prairie native will surely be a target in re-draft leagues, and even more so in dynasty leagues. In daily leagues, his price should be reasonable until the sample size at the NHL level grows, so he will be an early bang-for-your-buck play.
