Odubel Herrera’s Blunders Overshadow Game
Odubel Herrera put forth another respectable offensive game Monday night at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Ultimately, however, it would be two plays which he flubbed that would define the game for the Phillies. First, he committed a major base-running blunder with Rhys Hoskins stuck in a rundown between third base and home. Herrera decided to try and reach third, which would lead to a double play. Later, he misplayed a ball in the outfield, allowing it to roll over his head into center field. The play would result in the Red Sox scoring the tying run and they would eventually win the game in extras. Regardless, the 26-year-old’s two hits resulted in his second consecutive multi-hit game, as he brought his average up to .278.
