Odell Beckham Jr., Baker Mayfield Still Developing Chemistry
5 years agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. acknowledged that he and quarterback Baker Mayfield are still developing their in-game chemistry and that it will take time. "That comes from experience, it comes from playing in games together," Beckham said Thursday. "Live bullets are different than when we’re in practice and you don’t have to worry about this or that, it’s tough to compare." Beckham is still adjusting to Mayfield, who throws a much harder ball than OBJ's former QB, Eli Manning, did. OBJ is tied for 34th in the league with 34 catches and is 23rd with 488 yards so far this year. He's also tied for eighth with four drops and is tied for 12th in the NFL with 57 targets. The most concerning thing is that Beckham has just one touchdown and is rarely targeted in the red zone. The pressure of expectations has gotten to Cleveland in the first half of the year, but Beckham and the Browns offense should improve. The team's No. 1 wideout has a tough draw in the Broncos Defense this Sunday, but Beckham will remain a strong WR2. Buying low on the talented receiver might be a good idea.
