Nomar Mazara Could Return By Sept. 1
5 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara (oblique) has started throwing and doing some light swinging. Manager Chris Woodward said Mazara is expected to increase his workouts over the next few days, and the team is cautiously optimistic that he could be ready on Sept. 1 when rosters expand. It's tough to come back quickly from oblique strains, and the 24-year-old has been out since Aug. 19. But it appears he's making good progress, but fantasy owners should still be skeptical about how much he'll be able to help with the season winding down. Mazara has hit .268/.318/.466 with 17 home runs, 65 runs, 62 RBI and four swipes on the season in 406 at-bats.
