Nolan Arenado Not Setting Deadline For Extension Talks
6 years agoColorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, who is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2019 season, said on Thursday that he won't make Opening Day a hard deadline for negotiations towards a long-term extension. The star third baseman signed a one-year, $26 million deal to avoid salary arbitration for 2019. "When serious games start, there'll probably be a silent deadline. I'm not sure. But at the end of the day, I'm open to anything. It's been fine. There's no hard feelings. We can talk whenever," Arenado said. The Rockies are optimistic that a new deal with come to fruition with Arenado, who is ranked as the No. 5 overall fantasy player heading into 2019. Staying in Colorado and the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field would be the best for Arenado's long-term fantasy outlook.
