Noah Syndergaard Not Worried About Extension
6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who signed a one-year, $6 million deal in January to cover his second year or arbitration eligibility, said he's not in any rush to sign a long-term contract extension. "I trust my ability and the talent that I have. So I feel like I'm going to bet (on) myself in free agency and not do what they did," Syndergaard said Wednesday. "But if it's fair for both sides and they approach me on it, then maybe we can talk." Syndergaard is under control for three more seasons and neither side has approached the other at this point. Thor will turn 27 in August and still has a lot of upside going into his fifth year in the big leagues. Injuries are a concern, though, and he has yet to top 183 2/3 innings for the Mets. Despite the risk, he's a top-10 fantasy starter that will come off the board as a low-end ace in the early rounds.
