5 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett (groin) has joined the team on their road trip, but Gennett and Reds manager David Bell said the earliest possible return date (Sunday) is out of the question. Gennett is guessing a couple more weeks, but he doesn't have an exact timetable for his return. The plan was for Gennett to hit off a tee on Tuesday. The issue isn't hitting, so the real test will be running and moving laterally. He'll eventually need a rehab assignment and possibly a short one. He's yet to play in 2019 but should remain stashed in all leagues after hitting 40 home runs and driving in 189 runs the last two seasons. Gennett's return could mean a move to the bench for the struggling Jose Peraza.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
