No Restrictions For Shohei Ohtani This Spring
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) went through a normal offseason and is fully healthy after an elbow/forearm strain last year limited him to just two starts on the mound. The Angels plan to utilize him as a two-way player in 2021, and manager Joe Maddon said that Ohtani is a full-go this spring. The 26-year-old won the American League Rookie of the Year in 2018 when he hit .285/.361/.564 with 22 home runs, 21 doubles and 61 RBI in 104 games as a DH while also going 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings over 10 starts on the mound. But he's dealt with knee and elbow injuries since, which have hampered his production. The Japanese two-way player will be a part of the rotation if he's healthy, and his power/speed combination as a hitter also makes him very valuable to fantasy managers. If healthy, Ohtani could prove to be quite the value at a current ADP of 235.
