The San Francisco 49ers plan to hire defensive passing-game specialist Nick Sorensen as their new defensive coordinator, according to sources. Sorensen has been an assistant in San Francisco the last two years. He's being promoted to replace Steve Wilks, who was fired as the defensive coordinator following the team's overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. It will be Sorensen's first role in the NFL as a defensive coordinator, as he's previously worked as a special teams coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars and as a defensive backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Sorensen also played defensive back in the NFL for 10 years, spending time with the Dolphins, Rams, Jaguars and Browns. He'll take over an already strong Niners defensive unit in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
