Nick Margevicius Kicks Off Padres Interleague Play
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Nick Margevicius will toe the rubber Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. The 22-year-old rookie will kick off the Padres interleague schedule against the highest scoring team in the majors at 6.4 runs per game. Margevicius was off to a brilliant start to his career but suffered a setback on April 16 against the Colorado Rockies (four innings, five earned runs). While Margevicius hasn’t blown anyone away with a high-80s heater, he’s succeeded with ground balls and pinpoint control (9.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio). His FIP, xFIP and SIERA all align with the current 3.60 ERA. Without a formidable challenger to usurp his rotation spot, Margevicius will likely continue getting opportunities unless he severely unravels, but he’s difficult to trust on Tuesday even as a cheap DFS option.
