Nick Castellanos Doesn't Want To DH
5 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos has made it clear that he doesn't want to serve as the team's designated hitter with the universal DH in play in the National League this year. The Reds have five players -- Castellanos, Shogo Akiyama, Nick Senzel, Jesse Winker and Phillip Ervin -- for three outfield spots and the DH in 2020. Castellanos has never been used as a DH despite playing the majority of his games in the American League. But he's also not known as a great defender in right field. The 28-year-old hit .289 with 58 doubles, 27 home runs, 73 RBI and 100 runs in 151 games with the Tigers and Cubs last year. He will play on a daily basis and should see a fantasy boost given his hitter-friendly home ballpark. Expect Winker to be Cincy's primary DH this year.
