Nestor Cortes Records Third Victory Out Of Bullpen
5 years agoThe New York Yankees went with an opener Tuesday night in the Bronx and once again emerged victorious. Aaron Boone followed the similar formula of starting Chad Green and going to left-hander Nestor Cortes to carry the load. The 24-year-old went 4 1/3 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits while striking out eight. Cortes threw a season-high 82 pitches in the performance. The Yankees seem likely to continue with the opener for the time being, and Cortes may very well pitch Sunday in London as Boone has stated he has no fixed plan for a starter that day against the Red Sox.
