Nelson Cruz Scores A Pair, Drives In One In Loss
4 years agoMinnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz collected an RBI triple and scored a pair of runs in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to Cleveland. Cruz worked the count full in his first at-bat, then went opposite field on a curveball for an RBI triple to give the Twins a 1-0 lead. He then scored on an Alex Kirilloff single. Cruz has been as advertised this year, as he, and Byron Buxton, have been the engines of the Twins' offense so far. The veteran slugger is batting .329 and is tied with Buxton for second in the majors with seven homers. Up next is an excellent matchup against Indians' lefty Logan Allen, who ranks in the 30th-percentile or worse in barrel rate, expected slugging, and expected ERA.
