Nationals Place Trevor Williams On 15-Day Injured List
6 months agoThe Washington Nationals placed right-hander Trevor Williams (forearm) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 1) on Tuesday with a right flexor strain and recalled left-handed pitching prospect DJ Herz from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Williams was scheduled to make the start on Tuesday against the visiting division-rival New York Mets, but that task will now fall to Herz in what will be his major-league debut. Given the nature of Williams' injury, the 32-year-old veteran will likely be out for more than two weeks. It's a tough blow for the Nats and fantasy managers, as Williams has been unexpectedly consistent so far in 2024, going 5-0 with a 2.22 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 47 punchouts in 56 2/3 innings over his 11 starts. UPDATE: Williams doesn't know how long the full recovery will be, but he said he won't be throwing for two weeks.
