3 months agoThe Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitching prospect Orlando Ribalta from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, according to sources. Per MLB Pipeline, Ribalta is the team's No. 28 prospect. The 26-year-old Cuban hurler began the year at Double-A Harrisburg before being promoted to Rochester. In his two minor-league stops in 2024, he's gone 5-1 with a 2.58 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, five saves, 67 strikeouts and 22 walks in 45 1/3 relief innings. The 6-foot-7, 245-pounder will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game, but he's not expected to have any fantasy value while likely working in a low-leverage role. Ribalta features a high-90s four-seam fastball, a sinker, a slider and a changeup. Ribalta can get hit around, but his raw stuff makes him an intriguing bullpen arm down the road.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
