Nationals, Anthony Rendon Talking Contract Extension
6 years agoThe Washington Nationals and third baseman Anthony Rendon have resumed contract-extension talks during the season. Rendon and general manager Mike Rizzo met on Tuesday before the team took batting practice, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting. The two sides remained "far apart" after the last meeting in spring training, but both sides are willing to continue discussions, and Rendon hasn't set any deadlines on the talks. The 28-year-old is in the final year of his current deal and would be in line to be the biggest free-agent name on the market next winter. Rendon entered Tuesday's game hitting .400 with six home runs, eight doubles, 17 RBI and a 1.333 OPS. He's got a 13-game hitting streak going and has been one of the best hitters in the big leagues in the early going.
