Nathan Eovaldi Has Bittersweet Appearance On Wednesday
5 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Nathan Eovaldi went two innings and surrendered the game-tying run in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game that was suspended at a 4-4 tie in the 10th inning. Eovaldi fanned five hitters but also allowed three hits in the outing. Things haven't gone as planned for the 29-year-old since returning from the injured list. Once expected to be the full-time closer, Eovaldi has thrown 7 2/3 innings of relief and has an 8.22 ERA to show for it. His BAA is .378 and his opponents have a .411 wOBA against him. Even if Eovaldi is given some closing opportunities in the near future, it would be hard to trust him for fantasy. Brandon Workman has proven to be the most reliable option in Boston's bullpen, but only if the rest of the staff can maintain the lead long enough for him to get a save chance.
