Mychal Givens Making Progress
3 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Mychal Givens (back) is making good progress from his lower back strain after landing on the 10-day injured list on June 17. It's an injury that had been bothering him since before his placement on the injured list. Givens was able to play catch on Tuesday and has also been going through back exercises with the training staff. Manager Bud Black said that the right-hander is getting closer to bullpen work and the opportunity to throw with "intensity." It sounds like the 31-year-old could be ready to return when he's eligible. Givens had not allowed a run in his last seven relief outings and was useful in leagues that count holds. Overall, the righty has a 2.78 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 25 strikeouts in his 22 2/3 relief innings.
