MRI Reveals Nick Burdi Has Strained Bicep Tendon
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Nick Burdi was diagnosed with a strained right biceps tendon and flexor mass Tuesday, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com. Luckily, nothing was fully torn or broken. However, Passan also reports that Burdi is going to seek a second opinion just to ensure that there isn't more severe damage. Regardless if the second opinion is similar, Burdi will be out indefinitely. However, he should escape another surgery to his right arm that underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017. This year, he's struck out 17 hitters through just 8 2/3 innings. It may be awhile before we know if he'll pitch again this year, but in the meantime Pittsburgh will rely on Keone Kela, Richard Rodriguez and Kyle Crick to hold down the middle innings.
