Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly was absent from Friday's practice due to an upper-body injury and has been ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Buffalo Sabres. Rielly didn't play Thursday night when the Leafs defeated the Washington Capitals by a 5-1 score. He remains listed as day to day. The 30-year-old is in the midst of a fine season, his 11th in the NHL, with seven goals and 51 points across 65 games while logging 23:49 of ice time per game. He has also added 90 hits and 122 blocked shots to his ledger. The Maple Leafs enter Saturday's contest with a 41-22-9 record, good for third in the Atlantic Division, although the Tampa Bay Lightning have closed within four points with the same number of games played.--Brenton Kemp
