Mitch Keller Allows Eight Runs Against Rays Wednesday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller continued his spring struggles on Wednesday afternoon, as he was rocked for eight runs on 10 hits and one walk over two innings against the Rays. Keller allowed five of the first six batters he faced to reach base before being replaced with one out in the first inning. He struck out the side in the second inning, while allowing a single and a home run, and then in he surrendered four more runs in the third inning. To say Keller has looked rough this spring is an understatement. He has now allowed 12 runs on 15 hits and three walks over just five innings this month. So long as he continues to pitch like this, it's hard to see any reason Keller should be on any roster in any format until he can turn things around.
