Mitch Garver Stops Slide With Three-Hit Game

Minnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver went 3-for-6 with two runs scored in a 12-2 victory over the Brewers. That's four hits in two games now for Garver, who needed this as much as anyone after a brutal 1-for-19 stretch to start the month of August. The backstop has hit slightly less fly balls than last year's breakout and more ground balls while striking out a bit more frequently. Garver won't continue to slash .167/.280/.238. If he can start turning some of those groundballs into fly balls, he'll find results similar to last year's breakout. Perhaps the upcoming series against the Royals will help, as Garver registered three extra-base hits in 12 plate appearances against them in 2019.
