Vikings Optimistic About Dalvin Cook Playing Thursday
3 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings are apparently feeling "optimistic" that their running back Dalvin Cook will play this week after suffering a dislocated shoulder two weeks ago. This would obviously be a much faster turnaround than many people expected and adds further confusion considering the game is being played on a Thursday night. It would be hard to expect Cook to be 100%, and shoulder injuries are problematic for running backs because one hard hit or tough fall could aggravate the injury and cause Cook to sit. Still, Cook is a star, and if we have indications before the game that he is going to start, it would be hard to bench him given the lack of running back depth across the league. He would just be a very risky play. Managers with Alexander Mattison could still roster him in deeper leagues since it's highly likely that Mattison sees some work and could even take on a larger role if Cook re-injures his shoulder. However, Mattison would be a high-end RB3 if Cook plays and not the RB1 many expected him to be without Cook.
