Mike Foltynewicz Dances Around Trouble Against Houston
3 years agoTexas Rangers starter Mike Foltynewicz battled through a tough start against the Houston Astros on Thursday. Ultimately allowing three earned runs over five full innings, the performance could have been much worse. The former Braves ace allowed eight hits to go along with three walks and was constantly dancing around base runners. Sitting at a 4.60 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, these are the exact numbers that Foltynewicz's fantasy managers expected to start the year. No longer a pitcher who can be expected to pitch at ace levels, the fireballer should continue to see innings, as the Rangers are just trudging along until the trade deadline. Those in deeper leagues with high innings caps should have Foltynewicz on their radar for any hot streaks. That said, he should only graduate to a matchup-based performer, and that's if things get better. Right now, he's not worth having on your roster in most mixed leagues.
