Mike Fiers Gets Tuned Up In Tokyo Opener
6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Mike Fiers made his first career Opening Day start on Wednesday in Tokyo and it was not an outing to remember. He yielded five earned runs, four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. The big blow was a grand slam allowed to Domingo Santana in the third inning. He threw just 35 of his 58 pitches for strikes and he uncorked a couple of wild pitches while also hitting Jay Bruce with a pitch. There will be better days once Fiers heads back stateside. For now, he is only worth a look in AL-only fantasy leagues.
