Mike Davis To Compete For Touches In Backfield
6 years agoChicago Bears running back Mike Davis will head into training camp looking to become more than the 'forgotten' man in the team's backfield. Most of the fantasy buzz this summer has gone towards teammates Tarik Cohen and rookie David Montgomery but don't count out Davis. The free agent acquisition fell short of having a 'breakout campaign' last season but set career- best marks in carries (114), yards (514), receptions (34), receiving yards (214) and total touchdowns (5). Davis was one of many running backs that the Seahawks rotated last year and he posted two games with 100 yards from scrimmage or more. Davis was in line for a heavier workload this season but drafting Montgomery is certain to cut into the timeshare. It is hard to envision a scenario where Davis averages more than 15 carries a game this season but could lead the team in touches in the red zone for an ascending offense.

Vikings Looking At Mike Davis
2 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings visited with free-agent running back Mike Davis at training camp on Tuesday. The Vikings continue to look to bolster their backfield depth behind starter Alexander Mattison with the 2023 regular season quickly approaching. Behind Mattison, the Vikes currently have inexperienced backs Kene Nwangwu, Ty Chandler, Abram Smith and rookie DeWayne McBride on their current roster. The 30-year-old Davis was originally a fourth-round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015 out of South Carolina. Davis spent the 2022 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens, seeing just eight carries for 18 yards in eight games (zero starts). He has 558 carries for 2,052 yards (3.7 yards per carry) and 14 rushing touchdowns in eight NFL seasons with six different squads.

Mike Davis Waived By Baltimore
2 years agoThe Ravens have waived running back Mike Davis, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. The move opened up a spot on the roster for J.K. Dobbins (knee), who was activated from the injured reserve list on Saturday. Despite Baltimore dealing with an ailing backfield throughout the year, Davis saw little action, ending his tenure with the club by amassing only 18 yards off eight touches. There's a chance the 29-year-old will get picked up by another team, although it probably won't mean anything on the fantasy end.

J.K. Dobbins Activated From Injured Reserve
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) was activated from Injured Reserve on Saturday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, while the team waived running back Mike Davis in a corresponding move. The 23-year-old Dobbins hasn't played since Week 6 after suffering a setback in his surgically repaired left knee. That being said, it's likely Dobbins won't see a full workload in Week 14 against Pittsburgh. However, he may receive enough action to lower the ceilings of Gus Edwards and Kenyan Drake. The Ravens backfield could give fantasy managers plenty of headaches the rest of the way.

Mike Davis A Healthy Scratch Again In Week 8
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Mike Davis is a healthy inactive for the Thursday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the second straight game. It coincides with Gus Edwards' (knee) return from injury last week. Defensive tackle Calais Campbell (illness) is also inactive after missing practice all week. Davis was relevant at the start of the season in deeper leagues with both Edwards and J.K. Dobbins recovering from their respective knee surgeries, but he's well off the fantasy radar now while behind Edwards, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill. Dobbins is currently on Injured Reserve. The 29-year-old Davis has just eight carries for 18 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game at all in six games played for the Ravens.
