Mickey Moniak To Miss Six Weeks With Hairline Fracture
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Mickey Moniak (wrist) has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his wrist. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Moniak is expected to miss the first six weeks of the season. This is an extremely tough break for Moniak on many accounts. The former first overall pick suffered the injury in his final at-bat of the spring. He had a fantastic Spring Training overall, slashing .371/.371/.914 with five home runs, essentially hitting his way into a roster spot with the club. Unfortunately, he will now begin the year on the injured list. With Moniak injured, outfielder Simon Muzziotti will join the Opening Day roster as outfield depth.
