Michael Pineda Exits Game With Left Side Tightness
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda (side) left Friday's game with left side tightness. Pineda struggled during his outing, allowing four runs on six hits, including two homers, over 2 2/3 innings of work against the Rays- though it's unclear if the injury had anything to do with his down performance. The Twins will likely provide further information on his status following the game. As noted by beat writer Do-Hyoung Park, starter Lewis Thorpe just tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball, striking out five batters for the club's Triple-A affiliate. Thorpe could be a candidate to take Pineda's spot in the rotation if the latter is forced to miss time.
