2 years agoA headline that you may have to read twice to believe, however, it is true. Micheal McDowell will indeed start third at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 from Sonoma Raceway. At first glance, he is not one of the names that will pop into your head when talking about road course drivers. However, over the last six races last season on a similar track type, he has four top-eight finishes. His best finish over those six races was third right here at Sonoma last season. He ran well at Circuit of the Americas in NASCAR's only road course in 2023, ultimately finishing 12th. He is a good value play that could be overlooked due to his starting position. --Eric DeWilde
