Michael Lorenzen Won't Return Until After All-Star Break
3 years agoCincinnati Reds manager David Bell said that relief pitcher Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) will stay with Triple-A Louisville on his rehab assignment until after the All-Star break so that there are "no limitations on how we use him." The Reds wisely won't push Lorenzen back for the weekend before the All-Star break since he's been out all season with a right shoulder strain. The 29-year-old right-hander will likely be used mostly in a long-relief role, but he's also made 26 career starts and can also be used as a spot starter if the Reds need one. Lorenzen has a career 3.97 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and mediocre 20.1 percent strikeout rate in six major league seasons, so he's unlikely to have any fantasy value unless he makes some starts in the second half of the season.
