Michael Lorenzen Making Phillies Debut Thursday
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen will make his first start for his club on Thursday against Johnny Cueto and the Miami Marlins. The 31-year-old was acquired before the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers after authoring a 3.58 ERA (3.88 FIP) and 1.10 WHIP with a 5-7 record across 18 games. Lorenzen doesn't strike many out, posting a 19.9% strikeout rate, but his ratios are helpful in most leagues, and his value should increase while on a competitive team. Fantasy managers looking for rotation help can add the right-hander from the waiver wire and start him against a Marlins offense that ranks 17th in baseball with a .722 OPS.
