Michael Kopech Making Excellent Progress
3 years agoChicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa said he saw "excellent progress" from relief pitcher Michael Kopech's (hamstring) simulated game on Friday. The plan is for Kopech to throw another simulated game on Monday. After that, the White Sox will determine if the right-hander will need to go on a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old has been lights-out for the Pale Hose in 2021, posting a 1.72 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 45:11 K:BB in 31 1/3 innings of relief. He should be back with the team soon, barring a setback, and Kopech should remain plenty valuable for his ratios, strikeouts and maybe even some wins. You can't do a whole lot better than his 36% strikeout rate and 8% walk rate in deeper leagues.
