Michael Conforto's Late Heroics Not Enough
The New York Mets found themselves down by 11 runs in the seventh inning Sunday afternoon at Citi Field. From that point on, however, they mounted a furious comeback, scoring eight unanswered runs before ultimately falling short, 12-9. In the ninth inning, outfielder Michael Conforto recorded his second hit of the day when he connected on a three-run home run, cutting the deficit from six runs to three. The blast forced the Nationals to go to their closer, who ultimately finished out the game.
