Michael Busch Starting At Second Against Reds
10 months agoChicago Cubs infielder Michael Busch is making the start at second base on Sunday in the series finale against the Cincinnati Reds and is batting seventh against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas. Busch started one game at second base for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season and 25 games there for Triple-A Oklahoma in 2023. Regular second baseman Nico Hoerner (hand) may be able to avoid a trip to the injured list despite suffering a small fracture in his hand when he was hit by a pitch on Thursday, but Busch could fill in at second for the Cubs until Hoerner is able to return. Busch got off to a sizzling start at the plate this year in his first year in Chicago, but he's slowed down since and is hitting .216 (8-for-37) with a homer, three RBI, 11 walks and 15 K's in 18 games since May 17. He has never faced Montas in his career.
