Mets Sign Second-Rounder J.T. Ginn
5 years agoThe New York Mets signed second-rounder J.T. Ginn (52nd overall) to a contract worth $2.9 million on Monday. The Mississippi State right-handed pitcher signed for well over the slot value of the 52nd overall pick at $1.403 million. Ginn has nasty stuff, including a 91-97 mph fastball and a wipeout slider, but he underwent Tommy John surgery in March and will get a late start to his professional career. With Ginn's signing, the Mets have officially inked all of their 2020 draft picks. Some scouts thought that he could have been a top-10 pick in this year's draft before his elbow injury. The Mets will be very careful with Ginn's rehab and recovery as he starts his first professional season in 2021.
