Mets Interview Brad Ausmus For Manager Position
3 years agoThe New York Mets interviewed Brad Ausmus for their managerial opening on Monday, marking the first interview of what's expected to be an extensive search, according to sources familiar with the situation. The 52-year-old Ausmus served as the manager for the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels previously, and he has a long relationship with Mets general manager Billy Eppler, who hired Ausmus with the Angels. Ausmus has a losing record in five major league seasons as a skipper, including multiple 90-loss seasons. Other candidates in the running for the Mets job include Astros bench coach Joe Espada, former manager Buck Showalter, Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro and Pirates bench coach Don Kelly. The Mets have reached out to Espada and are expected to interview Quatraro in the coming days.
