Mets In Contact With Rays About Rich Hill

The New York Mets have reportedly been in recent contact with the Tampa Bay Rays about trading for starting pitcher Rich Hill, according to Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo. Hill has been solid for the Rays and fantasy managers in 2021, posting a 3.87 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 91:36 K: BB across 95 1/3 innings. He would serve an immediate need for the Mets who have been ravaged by injuries to their starting rotation. Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) had a rough outing in his first rehab start, which could push back his return timeline. As a result, the Mets need to address starting pitching sooner than later. Were the Mets to acquire Hill in a deal with the Rays, his fantasy value would essentially remain similar. He would move to a similarly competitive ball club, and a similarly situated pitcher-friendly park in Citifield. Hill, prone to the long ball having allowed 14 home runs so far in 2021, would move from Tropicana Field (the fourth-ranked ballpark for home run park factors, according to ESPN) to Citifield, the third-ranked park.
