Mets, Gary Sanchez Agree To A Minor-League Deal Tuesday
2 years agoThe New York Mets and catcher Gary Sanchez agreed to a minor-league contract on Tuesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. The 30-year-old backstop hasn't appeared in the Majors this season but played with the San Francisco Giants Triple-A team for 16 games before opting out. Sanchez will provide the Mets with some reassurance behind the plate, as Francisco Alvarez has struggled to hit big-league pitching, and Tomas Nido is having the worst offensive campaign of his career. In 2022, the former New York Yankee slashed .205/.282/.377 with 16 bombs, 42 runs, 61 RBI, and two stolen bases across 128 games as a member of the Minnesota Twins. Fantasy managers should leave Sanchez on the waiver wire unless he replaces Alvarez as the starting catcher later this season.
