Mets Close To Landing Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz
6 years agoA trade that would send Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz to the New York Mets is close, according to sources. No announcement is expected to come on Thursday night, but it could be finalized on Friday. Cano must waive his full no-trade clause in order for the trade to go down. The M's are also expected to take on a large chunk of the remaining five years and $120 million owed to Cano. While Cano's future is shaky after serving a performance-enhancing drug suspension in 2018, he is still a very good hitter and could bounce back in 2019. Diaz led all of baseball in saves and will remain a high-end fantasy closer if he changes leagues. The Mets will likely need to include a prospect or two and perhaps even outfielder Jay Bruce. Stay tuned.
