Carlos Correa Deal Expected To Look "Dramatically Different"
2 years agoThe Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday that while he assumes a deal between the New York Mets and free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa will get resolved this week, the terms of the initial 12-year, $315 million contract are expected to look "dramatically different." The Mets announced the deal in December after Correa and the Giants' 13-year, $350 million deal was called off due to medical concerns related to Correa having arthroscopic surgery in 2014 to fix a fractured fibula and minor ligament damage. These same concerns have since arisen for the Mets, preventing the announced deal from becoming official. "It's not going to be 12 years, $315 [million] guaranteed," Rosenthal said. The 28-year-old has not missed any time related to the concerning injury recently in his career.
