Mets Aiming To Be Aggressive This Offseason
4 years agoThe New York Mets aim to be aggressive for the best available players this offseason. One source said that it's true that the Mets are targeting more than just one of the big four -- outfielder George Springer, catcher J.T. Realmuto, starting pitcher Trevor Bauer and Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor. There has been speculation that New York would pursue free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu after Robinson Cano was suspended for the entire season, but he wasn't mentioned by Olney. It's been widely expected that the Mets would increase payroll this offseason under new owner Steve Cohen, so don't be surprised if they make some big splashes to officially jumpstart the free-agent and trading markets.
