Mets Agree With Dellin Betances
5 years agoThe New York Mets agreed to a one-year deal with relief pitcher Dellin Betances on Tuesday, according to sources. The deal includes two player options. Coming off Achilles and shoulder injuries that held him to just one outing with the Yankees in 2019, Betances' stock is obviously down. However, he has a career 2.36 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and ridiculous 14.6 K/9 in 381 2/3 innings over 358 outings in relief. When healthy, Betances is an elite strikeout artist in the back of a bullpen for fantasy owners. Even though he won't be set up to earn saves initially with the Mets, he can still be useful for his ratios and for those in holds leagues. And if Edwin Diaz falters again like he did in 2019, the Mets could consider using Betances in the ninth.
