Mets Acquire Keon Broxton
6 years agoThe New York Mets acquired outfielder Keon Broxton from the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday in exchange for pitchers Bobby Wahl and Adam Hill and infielder Felix Valerio. Broxton was expendable in Milwaukee's crowded outfield picture, and the speedster will now have an opportunity to start in center field with New York in 2019. Broxton has hit just .221 in four years in the big leagues, but he did have 20 homers in 2017 and has produced 20-plus thefts in two seasons. He'll be a sneaky source of speed in the later rounds of mixed drafts. Wahl had a 10.13 ERA in just seven outings (5 1/3 innings) last year. Hill was solid in just 15 1/3 innings at Low-A Brooklyn, while Valerio spent the summer in the Dominican League. He just turned 18 years old.
