Max Scherzer Earns Another Win on Thursday
6 years agoWashington Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer notched his 12th win of the season on Thursday in a win over the New York Mets. Scherzer fired seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits to go along with five strikeouts. The righty has shown signs of being human lately. This was the second straight start in which Scherzer failed to strike out more than five batters. On the bright side, Scherzer threw 73 of his 101 pitches for strikes and his velocity remained in the mid-to-upper 90s. The All-Star break should provide Scherzer with some time to regroup, and there is no reason to believe the ace will not provide elite ratios in the second half. We are pretty sure that the next time Scherzer will pitch is as the starter in the All-Star Game, but his matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee to start the second half is not scheduled yet.
