4 months agoOakland Athletics infield prospect Max P. Muncy put together a huge performance in Sunday's victory for Triple-A Las Vegas. Muncy, who has missed a lot of time this season with two injured list stints, made up some season numbers by going 5-for-5 with five runs, three home runs and eight RBI, all personal bests for the club's No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Muncy's homers included a grand slam. Although he is not a huge power hitter, he offers very good plate discipline and has continued to tap into his power as his body has matured. In 36 games for Las Vegas this season, Muncy is now hitting .268 with six homers and 24 RBI. Injuries have held Muncy back, but the infielder could find himself competing for a roster spot as early as next season.
