Max Muncy's Hamstring Injury Only A Low-Grade
Max Muncy (hamstring) suffered a Grade 2 strain on his left hamstring, managers Dave Roberts told reporters on Thursday that it's actually a low-grade strain. That's great news for the Dodgers and fantasy managers, as the 32-year-old won't miss as much time as originally thought. The club still doesn't know if Muncy will need a trip to the injured list, which should be determined on Friday. The slugger is only hitting .191 this season but does have 18 long balls, 39 runs, 45 RBI, and one stolen base over 60 games. If an IL stint is required, expect Chris Taylor to see more playing time at third base. The utility man is hitting .209 but is a power-speed threat, as he's gone deep 11 times and has swiped seven bags across 56 contests.

Max Muncy With A Pair Of Doubles Back At Triple-A
Max Muncy went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored in his first game action back at Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. The A's optioned Muncy to Triple-A on Wednesday after he began the year 12-for-68 (.176) with a 29.6 percent strikeout rate compared to just a 4.2 percent walk rate in the majors. With a strong showing at Triple-A, the former first-round draft pick will likely get another shot in the big leagues this year, but the 22-year-old isn't a stash candidate at this time.

Max Muncy Launches First Career MLB Home Run
Max Muncy went 1-for-4 with his first career home run during their victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday evening. Muncy would go deep in the eighth off Seattle left-hander Tayler Saucedo. This was also his first career MLB hit. Muncy was able to break camp with the MLB roster due to Zack Gelof (wrist) opening the campaign on the injured list. During the first two games of the season, Muncy has been deployed as the starting second baseman. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his development, but it appears he will continue to see everyday opportunities in the starting lineup. Last season, the former 25th overall pick posted a solid .277/.374/.491 line across 50 games at Triple-A. He is worth monitoring in deeper formats as he could be a viable middle infielder if he continues progressing at the MLB level.

Max Muncy Quiet In MLB Debut
Max Muncy got the starting nod on Opening Day but went 0-for-3 at the plate. Muncy was able to earn a spot on the roster given his strong play in camp and due to Zack Gelof (wrist) opening the season on the IL. In Thursday's contest, Muncy struck out twice. In spring training, the 22-year-old posted a .282/.383/.385 slash line with a 6:11 BB:K. Last summer, the former 25th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft spent most of his time at the Triple-A level. Across 50 contests in Las Vegas, Muncy posted an impressive .277/.374/.491 slash line with 11 doubles, eight long balls, and four stolen bases. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his development as he could become the No. 1 second baseman while Gelof is sidelined. Luis Urias and Max Schuemann could also compete for starts.

Max Muncy To Return On Tuesday
Max Muncy (hamstring) is expected to return for Tuesday's game, according to manager Dave Roberts. There was hope that Muncy would return on Sunday, but the team will give him a few extra days to rest. The left-handed slugger was placed on the 10-day injured list last Friday. The good news is, Muncy was able to take batting practice ahead of Saturday's contest. It sounds like Muncy is on the verge of returning, so fantasy managers shouldn't have to wait much longer.
