Max Fried Leaves Early Wednesday With Injury
4 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried (calf) left his start on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals early after he was hit in the right calf by a comebacker in the second inning in the first game of a doubleheader. The left-hander allowed five earned runs and eight hits in just over two innings, so it was a bad day all around for Fried. He didn't allow more than five hits in any of his 11 starts last season, another indication of how bad his start on Wednesday actually was. Fried produced a no-decision in his first outing of the year on Opening Day last week against the Philadelphia Phillies and never was able to get comfortable, allowing two earned runs and six hits while striking out eight and walking two in five innings. It hasn't been the start that Fried or his fantasy managers envisioned, but it's still early. Check back for updates on the seriousness of his leg injury.
