Matthew Boyd Rebounds Against Seattle
3 years agoDetroit Tigers lefty Matthew Boyd put together an excellent performance on Tuesday blanking the Seattle Mariners for zero runs across six innings in the Tigers 5-3 victory at home in Detroit. Boyd allowed six hits, one walk, and one unearned run while striking out three as he picked up his third victory of the season. Now sporting a completely acceptable 3.56 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the season, Boyd put together his first outing allowing less than four runs since May 11th. Detroit's top left-hander now has multiple components that managers can use to sell at a profit: a strong full-season stat line, a recent elite performance against a subpar team, and the looming potential of being traded to a contender. Boyd managers would be wise to place his name atop their trade block and shop for any pressing team needs.
